Sometimes it takes me hours but I create these how to draw worksheets but I do it so that I can give back because I believe that when you have been given a gift it is so you can be a gift to others, and I hope these worksheets are a means of blessing to you.

FIRST
Start with the line down the middle that makes the quill and shaft, so then you can use it as a reference for everything that follows. Draw the middle line as two lines so you have a top and a bottom. The line on the bottom will be a little thicker to show the shadow.
SECOND
The shape of this feather is oval, though some are triangular. Lightly outline the feather as an oval. Use two lines to draw the oval it will be evener.
THIRD
The feather has barbs, draw them as lines coming off of the middle line (shaft), and going to the edge, that is the outside oval we drew in the second step. Sometimes there are gaps in the barbs so draw the gaps early on, that way you are ready when you shadow it in.
There are downy barbs at the base of the feather they go wild, so draw them every way almost like a scribble.
FOURTH
Use shadow technique to show the connection of the barbs to the shaft this is done with short lines starting at the shaft going outward to the edge. Lastly, draw shot lines going from the edge inward toward the shaft. Leave spaces for interest. Use longer and darker lines on the bottom to give the shadow effect.
